The Defence of Procyon III Pre-Order Store

Created by Will Townshend, PSC Games

From prolific designer Dávid Turczi comes the wargame for the eurogamer: The Defence of Procyon III. In this smart sci-fi struggle, one-to-four players take control of unique factions as part of a team-based conflict. The card-driven battle wages over two boards using 120 amazing miniatures, with humans defending against invading aliens on the surface and orbital space of Procyon III. Played competitively or cooperatively, the highly asymmetric gameplay involves four different card-based combat games interacting with each other and continues until one side has achieved victory in this previously insignificant corner of the galaxy. The world of Procyon III is brought to life by the evocative art of Jakub Politzer (Adrenaline, Sanctum).

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Pledge Manager Surveys Incoming!
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jun 07, 2020 at 12:58:19 AM

We’ve been busy since the campaign ended getting things ready in Backerkit for the pledge manager and are happy to say that the first surveys will be going out today!

Today’s update will share the next steps and answer some of the most common questions for backers new to pledge managers.

What’s a pledge manager?

PSC Games uses Backerkit as its pledge manager. In a nutshell, Backerkit is fulfilment software for crowdfunding campaigns that makes it easy for us to get your rewards to you.

Using the Backerkit system you will be able to:

  • Confirm your shipping address and pay for shipping
  • Add and pay for any optional buys you wish to purchase

What’s happening?

We will start by doing a “smoke test” of the system today. We will send a small percentage of backers the survey to ensure that things run smoothly.

Assuming all goes to plan, the remainder of the surveys will be sent out over the weekend.

You will receive an email from BackerKit that confirms your pledge level and the amount you have paid so far via Kickstarter.

If you pledged at the standard pledge level, your items will already be in your cart and you can proceed with paying for shipping (or selecting add-ons).

Note for £1 Backers

There are no rewards associated with the £1 pledge level. If you’d like a copy of The Defence of Procyon III you will need to ‘switch your pledge level’ in Backerkit. Once you’ve made the switch, your copy of the game and its stretch goals will be added to your cart.

You can switch your pledge from the initial survey screen:

Or you can also do this later in the process:

Add-ons

As listed on the Kickstarter campaign page, we’ve made some of our other titles available to you at special crowdfunding prices. Within the pledge manager, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase add-ons like Dávid Turczi’s Rome & Roll, Paolo Mori’s Blitzkrieg! (solo mode by Dávid Turczi), and Red Alert: Space Fleet Warfare (designed by Richard Borg and nominated for Best Board Game at the 2020 Origins Awards).

Please note that add-ons purchased in Backerkit will ship together with your pledge for The Defence of Procyon III. Add-ons are not shipped separately. If you wish to receive these games sooner, you can order them from our website or your friendly local gaming store.

Managing your survey

We appreciate you responding to your survey as quickly as you can, as this information helps our planning and ability to fulfil your rewards smoothly. That said, we will leave the pledge manager open longer than we normally would, as we understand that you may need a bit more time given all that’s going on in the world right now.

We will communicate via an update when we plan to lock the pledge manager (at that point you will still be able to change your address but won’t be able to add or remove items from your pledge).

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to answer your survey. The invitation email contains a link to your personal survey. After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we lock the survey and get our final counts.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link using the "Lost your survey?" option on our BackerKit project page.

If you don’t receive the survey from us in the next week, please check your spam folder. If the email is not there, please contact us and we will provide the link to you directly.

Pre-order shop also opening

For those reading this update that missed the campaign, we are also offering pre-orders via Backerkit.

What if I need help?

Backerkit offers excellent support within the platform, so please use the ‘Need Help?’ link within the site if you need it. You can also send us a direct message here on Kickstarter if you have a question or concern not covered there.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thanks to all 1,049 of our amazing backers – we are overjoyed to say that the campaign for The Defence of Procyon III is a success and the project has been successfully funded!

Thank you very much for supporting this ambitious game during such an unusual time. Your support and trust mean more to us than you’ll know.

So, what happens now?

Our next tasks are to:

  • Prepare our Backerkit pledge manager survey to send out to you in the next few weeks. Using the pledge manager, you will be able to confirm your address and add optional buys, and the finalised shipping costs to your address will be shown.
  • Finalise the changes unlocked by the stretch goals. We have factored in time for this already, so this shouldn’t add additional time to our production schedule.
  • Send everything for the game to our manufacturer to get production underway. Our current target shipping date is May 2021.

Your tasks are to:

  • Wait for the Backerkit pledge manager survey, and then confirm your address, select and pay for any optional buys, and pay for your shipping. Please do this promptly as we don’t want any stragglers to miss having their game delivered!
  • That’s all!

We will post an update when we send the pledge manager survey, so you will know to check your email for it.

We’re going to keep you up to date with progress on the game via occasional Kickstarter updates. While we don’t want to overload you with constant updates, we will ensure that you are sent our most important news between now and the shipping date (usually about once a month).

Once again, thank you so much for supporting the campaign and for helping to bring Dávid’s fantastic game into being.

Expect to receive our pledge manager survey in the next few weeks. Until then, thank you again!

Gaming Rules! stretch goal
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 04, 2020 at 11:32:07 PM

It was a productive weekend for the campaign as you smashed the £54K stretch goal and the funding continues to climb.

Deflectors will now be upgraded to miniatures (though you'll still have tokens to use if that's your preference). That's likely to be the final upgrade to a plastic component that we'll see as a goal, though who knows what surprises may be in store in the final week of the campaign!

We're very excited about the next stretch goal (set for £60K). This is one that has been requested since well before this Kickstarter campaign and it will really help get the game to the table...

Industry legend Paul Grogan of Gaming Rules! is going to create a series of five how-to-play videos for The Defence of Procyon III! There will be one video for each individual faction, plus one with a more overarching view of the rules. Paul is well known for his rules expertise and so there's no one better to get you and your gaming group up and running with Procyon III when the game reaches you next year!

Let's keep the momentum going!

Stretch Goals, Feedback, and Painting!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, May 01, 2020 at 12:14:40 AM

We have a few odds and ends to share with you here on Day 10 of the campaign. Let's jump right into it.

First off, let's talk stretch goals, as several have been unlocked since our last update. In addition to upgrading to miniatures for the Skybeams, Round marker (any guesses on what the Naharan artefact will look like?), and Absorption Fields, you've also unlocked a better solution for tracking damage on the Empress and Centurion units. As suggested in the comments, we'll be including numbered tokens for this purpose to keep things simple and easy to read.

The next goal to unlock is another suggestion from the comments, and that's upgrading the player boards from heavy paper to heavy card.

Speaking of comments, we've been enjoying the feedback from those of you who have tried the game on Tabletop Simulator. (Check Update #3 for full details) If you have the time, please drop a comment on the campaign after you've played, or do as BoardGameGeek user Florian has done and post a review. You can read their thoughts after a couple of two-player games here

Last up today, we want to let you know that tomorrow our friends at Studio J7 will be painting up some more miniatures from the game live on Twitch. Unlike the painted minis you've already seen, which were 3D-printed, these will be the same plastic models as used in the prototype copies of the game that you've seen in the videos.

Tune in tomorrow at twitch.tv/studioj7 at 8:30pm GMT | 4:30pm EST.

Stretch goals & more!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Apr 27, 2020 at 11:59:14 PM

Today we’d like to show you the second half of the special thank you that we mentioned on Friday. To show our appreciation for funding the project during these unprecedented times, we’ve added two Pylon miniatures to each Standard Pledge! As with all the upgrades to miniatures, these are in addition to the cardboard tokens already provided, so you can play whichever way suits you. These minis might make the board a bit easier to read for some of you, and they’ll come with four health tracker tokens.

You’ll see the Pylons and the new Player Boards updated in the components section of the campaign page.

We’ve also updated the stretch goal graphics with a fresh new look at the miniature upgrades that have been unlocked so far. And here they are for closer inspection: the Lunar Refinery, the Human VP marker, and the Aethyn VP marker (based on one of our favourite pieces of token art in the game).

Our next goal is to upgrade the Skybeams from tokens to a set of four miniatures, and it’s only a few pledges away from being unlocked!

Finally, we’ll leave you today with an interview with Dávid Turczi from The Dice Tower’s Daily Chat show, hosted by Mike DiLisio.
